UPS Write for Us
A UPS (Uninterruptible Power Supply) is a source of electrical supply that has batteries that provide electrical power for a limited time to electrical/electronic devices in electrical interruption. It also protects against power supply anomalies such as voltage spikes, voltage fluctuations, signal noise, harmonics, and other problems that cause our electrical devices to function abnormally or, in the worst case, to get damaged.
What are the different types of UPS that exist?
Essential protection – Standby.
Professional protection – Interactive line.
Total protection – Online (Double conversion).
The backup time is proportional to the cost of the equipment; the following times can be taken, for example:
- 5 to 10 minutes for computer applications
- 15 to 20 minutes for network applications (servers)
- 20 to 30 minutes for audio and video applications
- 30 or more minutes for CCTV applications
Essential Protection – Standby
Standby is the most basic UPS topology. During a blackout or a low voltage, what the UPS does is that it merely uses the internal battery to provide electricity. This type of UPS helps with the most common problems such as power failure, momentary low voltage problems (no more than a few seconds), and voltage spikes; these problems are present in any electrical network. Standby UPSs can deliver a simulated / modified sine wave designed to protect computers, point of sale systems, basic security systems, and more.
Note: These equipment waste milliseconds as the relay switches to battery mode.
